Dear Parents and Friends,

Thank you to all those parents and pupils who attended the Year 7 Parents Evening on Tuesday. We really value the comments and feedback from parents and guardians. Thank you to all involved.

Last night our Year 11 students enjoyed a fantastic celebration of their achievements at Clwyd Theatre Cymru. The pupils dressed up to red carpet standards, some arriving like celebrities in limousines, all brimming in anticipation of the evening ahead.
The evening was a great success, with outstanding speeches from pupils, certificates for excellence and effort from staff and some truly original dancing at the disco that followed.
This Year 11 is a stunning group of young people and they stand out as exceptionally talented - a remarkable achievement in our consistently high achieving school. It was a pleasure to share this evening with them and their families.

The next most important day in the year 11 calendar is 27th August when the GCSE results will be available from school. I urge Year 11 to make this day another day of celebration by making sure they do their best in the rest of their GCSE exams. Good luck to you all.

Immediately after half term Year 10 pupils are out on work experience and I know that they will be superb ambassadors for Argoed High School. Last year we had very positive comments from local employers and I challenge this Year 10 to be even better.

Headteacher

Important information about Summer uniform

Pupils must still bring their school sweatshirts to school;
The school uniform does not include any other type of top that could be

Library News - Year 7 Creative Writing Workshop: 15th July 2009
Mrs Pat Farnworth, a published author and writer of Children's fiction, will be visiting the Argoed School on Wednesday 15th July to run a Creative Writing workshop for Year 7 students in the School Library during class-time. This is an exciting opportunity for young writers and would-be writers to learn about the techniques of constructing a well-crafted story. Mrs Farnworth also fundraises for a centre in Africa which cares for children orphaned by AIDS. We are hoping to collect some money before she comes, to help her with her work and thank her for her visit. Watch this space for more news after half-term!

WELL DONE...... to Caitlin Freel, Farran Mountford,
Richard Ready & Rachel Stanwood-Jones all of 10SR.
They have drawn some cartoon images which represent religious concepts. Mrs Robins has used these images as part of her RE resources which have been accepted and are being used as digital RE resources on the teacher resource site ‘Ngfl Cymru'.
Take a look! S. Robins
