The school is settling down into a more normal routine with the Year 10's back from work experience and activity week over. I mentioned work experience last week but I am aware that Year 10 pupils would not have seen last week's newsletter, so I'll mention it again! The reports back from employers and pupils have once again been extremely positive. Well done to all those pupils. It really does show you and the school in an extremely positive light throughout the community.
As the new 14-19 develops there are more courses on offer to pupils than ever before. It is also true that more external GCSE exams are taking place in Year 10 as well as Year 11. Next year's Year 10 students will be taking exams in several subjects, either as the first part of a two year course or as part of a complete modular course. At this moment in time we only have provisional dates for these exams and in September we will be publishing a calendar with these dates on it.
Whilst I understand the economics of taking holidays during school time it is clear that taking holidays in Years 10 and 11 will have an impact on pupil performance. If at all possible I urge you not to do this.

Year 8 Science Trip
During activity week, year 8 pupils enjoyed a trip to the World Museum, Liverpool. They watched a show in the planetarium where they learnt about star constellations and the solar system. The other exhibits were excellent too, including a section on bugs and music. Here the pupils could listen, sing, dress up and even record music. The behaviour of the pupils was exemplary. Thank you to all staff for organising and leading
a group on the trip. Mr Goodson

Trip to London during Activities Week
Pupils from Yrs 7, 8 & 9 visited London as part of activities week. They saw a production of ‘Oliver' at the Drury Lane Theatre and a matinee performance of ‘Romeo & Juliet' at the Globe Theatre. A visit to the London Dungeons proved to be a terrifying experience for pupils and staff alike! The behaviour of the students was exemplary; everyone learnt a great deal and had a wonderful time!
