Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope that you all had an excellent break and on behalf of myself and the school may I wish you all a Happy New Year.

The New Year is often a time to reflect on the previous twelve months and then look forward to the next - maybe with a few resolutions on the way!

One of the things that I remember in 2006 was a special visitor coming to the school, someone who has experience of schools across the world. He said to me that Argoed High School was very impressive and that he could not believe how well behaved, positive and polite all the students were. Who was this special person? My father. It made me feel very proud to be a part of this learning community. Thank you to all for your support in achieving this.

This led me to one of my New Year resolutions - ensuring that our vision of ‘succeeding together for excellence in learning' underpins all the decisions made throughout the school.

Read the school Vision Statement below.

Headteacher

As there is a Gym competition in 1 week normal practices will begin next week. Clubs will include Hockey, Netball and football.
The girls rugby competition is being delayed as Colwyn Bay has suspended use of their pitches for January. I am assured that an alternative venue is being searched for and the competition will be taking place. Look for notices about extra training!

Congratulations to all cross country runners. Last term ten of our pupils made it into the County Cross Country squad.
